What is the process for an action before the Board of Veteran's Appeals?

 

A: Once the appeal has been perfected by filing the Notice of Disagreement and VA Form 9 in a timely fashion, the case is transferred to the Board of Veteran's Appeals in Washington, D.C.

The Board of Veteran's Appeals may:

  • a. affirm the decision
  • b. reverse the decision and grant the veteran benefits
  • c. remand the case back to the regional office for further proceedings; or
  • d. refer the case back to the regional office to decide a particular issue.
