But recent research suggests that Pradaxa may be even more dangerous than Warfarin, a drug that tops several lists of dangerous drugs. Warfarin bleeding can be treated with high doses of vitamin K. There is no antidote for internal bleeding caused by Pradaxa.

More than 260 Pradaxa bleeding deaths have been reported worldwide. Several countries are reconsidering their approval of the drug, and the FDA is looking at studies to determine the bleeding risk with Pradaxa. The FDA continues to say that it believes Pradaxa provides important health benefits when used as directed and under a doctor’s supervision.
