Are you or a loved one in need of a Xeljanz lawsuit attorney because of an embolism suffered from its use?
Recent FDA warning against high dosage usage of Xeljanz
The FDA has recently warned of the potential for deadly blood clots developing in certain patients taking Xeljanz. A post marketing study of the Xeljanz XR (tofacitinib) revealed that rheumatoid arthritis patients have a high risk of blood clots in the lungs or death.
The study involved rheumatoid arthritis patients who took the 10 mg dose twice daily. This is a stronger dose than the initial 5 mg twice per day dosage initially approved by the FDA. The higher dosages prompted the FDA to require the manufacturer, Pfizer, to conduct the study to determine the safety of the higher dose.
Patients in the study who were taking the higher dose, were reduced back down to the lower dose after concerns for pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs) surfaced.
If you are taking Xeljanz, you should not stop taking it or reduce your dosage without first consulting with your doctor. If you are currently taking the 10 mg dosage, you should schedule an appointment with your doctor immediately and if you have any of the following symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately:
- Chest or back pain
- Shortness of breath of difficulty breathing
- There can be other symptoms associated with blood clots, so do not delay seeking medical attention if you are suddenly not feeling well.
If you or a loved one were taking Xeljanz CR (tofacitinib) 10 mg and suffered a blood clot or pulmonary embolism, please contact us in order that we can assist you with a potential Xeljanz lawsuit against the manufacturer.
