The Pandemic Liability Protection Act (SB-6)

COVID-19 Litigation - Van Wey, Metzler & WilliamsOn June 14, 2021, the Pandemic Liability Protection Act (SB-6) was signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. This new legislation provides COVID-19 liability protections for health care providers and other institutions to follow in order to maintain their operations during an emergency situation like pandemics when they could face lawsuits from individuals.

In Texas, SB-6 limits an individual’s ability to bring litigation against employers and sets the standard for claims of liability arising from exposure to COVID-19. This law has prevented Van Wey, Metzler & Williams from accepting any such cases at this time.
