Medical Malpractice Attorney Kay Van Wey
D Magazine 2026: Best Attorney in Dallas Awards.
Attorney Kay Van Wey has again been recognized among the Best Lawyers in Dallas in D Magazine’s 2026 awards. This is the seventh consecutive year Kay has achieved this distinction and the ninth time overall. She was named Best Lawyer in her area of practice, Tort (Plaintiff): Personal Injury, Product & Medical Liability every year since 2000. She also won the award in 2018 and 2016.
When notified, Kay was pleased to learn she had topped the list again this year. “The Best Lawyers designation is something I worked my entire career for,” Kay said. “It is voted on by my peers and is a designation of who the Best Lawyers are by practice area, in my case, medical malpractice, in the region.”
The Process.
D Magazine creates the annual Best Lawyers in Dallas list through a peer-nomination process. The goal is to feature attorneys who demonstrate “Mastery and Drive” in representing clients in the Dallas area. Creating the list is a relatively basic but thorough two-step process.
First, Dallas-area lawyers with valid Texas Bar numbers are invited via email to nominate other lawyers whose work they have personally witnessed. Each nomination counts as a vote. The votes are then counted and sorted among dozens of areas of practice to determine which area lawyers received the most votes. Self-nominations and nominations from people without valid Texas Bar numbers are disqualified.
After the initial voting process is concluded, editors from D Magazine and an anonymous panel of local lawyers vet the winning nominees to verify each lawyer’s law license. and disciplinary status. After this formal validation of professional credentials and standing is complete, winners are notified and their names published.
This recognition, which is reaffirmed annually, speaks to Kay Van Wey’s enduring commitment to legal proficiency and client advocacy. It speaks to her dedication, knowledge, and the successes she brings her clients, this firm, and ultimately the health and safety of the general public.
Thank You.
Van Way and Metzler would like to thank D Magazine and Dallas’ legal community for recognizing and honoring Kay’s work on behalf of the people she represents.
